One of a group of men was fatally shot during a shootout with the security forces at Shelter Rock, Dempshire, Spanish Town, St. Catherine yesterday.

Dead is Canniggah Walsh, 19, of Watford Road, Greendale, Spanish Town.

Reports received by the CCN are that between 12:30 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., a joint police military party carried out operations in the area. During the exercise, a group of men armed with high-powered weapons opened fire at the lawmen. A shootout ensued, at the end of which Walsh was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Bureau of Special Investigations is investigating.
