Anthony-SmithCops: Marine Survived A War, But Not A Jealous Boyfriend

When Chris Holmes returned to Decatur Georgia from his stint in the Marine Corps, his family was thrilled to see him.

Cops say that on March 30, 1993 Chris was helping his sister move some furniture when he met two girls. Chris flirted with them and thought they liked him, but unfortunately this was not the case.

Cops say when Chris noticed the girls again later in the day they were followed closely by a tall angry man, Anthony Smith. Smith started yelling at Chris and then cops say he plunged a deadly knife into Chris’ chest.
Circle Of Violence Widens

When Chris’ family and friends jumped in and wrestled Smith to the ground, cops say Smith’s friend Kenyatta Warney joined the melee and started wildly stabbing the people involved. Police say after this initial round of violence Smith and Warney fled the area, but quickly returned with pistols and opened fire, wounding members of the Holmes family.

Smith and Warney were arrested the next day, Warney pleaded guilty to assault and weapons charges, but Anthony Smith was released on fifty thousand dollars bond and fled.
