Jealous Rage Leads to Murder

For nearly a decade, Florida detectives say Omar Williams has been in and out of jail.  His charges have been mostly drug related and for the most part, non-violent.  Until 2004.

That’s when Williams gunned down his ex-girlfriend, Tanisha Stobbs, and her co-worker, Michael Robinson, according to Broward County Sheriff’s homicide detectives.  Detective Ricky Libman said, “It was an on-again off-again relationship between Tanisha and Williams.  But, Michael Robinson was innocent and got caught in the middle.”

Florida detectives say Omar Williams killed his ex-girlfriend and her co-worker in cold blood.

On October 8, 2004, Tanisha, 25, who had stopped seeing Williams, was waiting tables at a Jamaican restaurant in Lauderhill, located east of Fort Lauderdale.  Michael Robinson, 38, was a cook at the same restaurant.  Police say the two knew each other through work and it was strictly a platonic, professional relationship.  On that night, Tanisha — knowing Michael was handy with electronics — asked him if he could help her hook up some new stereo equipment at her apartment.  He agreed after their shift was over.

That decision would cost him his life — and hers.

After Tanisha and Michael finished their shift and left in their respective cars, Williams called the restaurant looking for Tanisha.  According to police, Williams called repeatedly and became more and more upset with each call.

Police say Williams enjoys watching and playing soccer. In South Florida, Williams belonged to a soccer team.

Then, at closing time, detectives say Williams stopped by the restaurant.  He didn’t find Tanisha and was agitated beyond belief about his ex-girlfriend, who refused to see him and call him.  Witnesses told police that Williams appeared outraged that Tanisha and her co-workers were putting him off. 

That’s when he headed for Tanisha’s home.  Once at the apartment he rammed the door open.  Inside he found Michael on the couch working on the stereo.  Police say 38-year-old Michael was just helping out his co-worker, who had trouble hooking up her stereo.

Thinking something was going on between the two of them, detectives say, Williams fired half a dozen shots at Michael.  Several shots were to the back of his head and then, police say Williams walked around and fired more shots into Michael’s face.

Upon hearing the gunshots, Tanisha came from a rear room with stereo equipment in her hands.  Police say Williams fired three shots at her, killing her instantly.

Police Conduct Cross Country Search For Williams

After the double homicide, police say Williams picked up money from two separate Western Union locations from family and a friend.  They know he purchased a bus ticket on Greyhound later that day, but cops are unsure where he got off.  Detectives suspect he took a bus to southern California.  A few days later, detectives say Williams’ cell phone was recovered in a suburb of Los Angeles.

Detectives say Williams has ties to Texas, New York, Florida, California and Jamaica.  He is a Jamaican naive and still has family in that country.  They believe he could be anywhere. 

South Florida detectives say Williams, a Jamaican native, has ties to Jamaica, Florida, Texas, California and New York.

Police have few clues to help capture Williams.  One thing they know he likes is soccer.  He belonged to a Jamaican soccer team in Lauderhill, Florida while dating Tanisha.  He also is suspected by police of running a drug ring of marijuana and cocaine between New York, Florida, Jamaica and California.

He’s been on the run since 2004 and it’s time to stop the alleged murderer of two innocent people.
